With social media as its primary carrier, propaganda and disinformation spread wider than ever before. Hostile foreign actors upgrade suites of cyber tools along a hybrid war spectrum that denies critical infrastructure and industries, but also seek to disrupt human systems.

The UTS Data Science Institute is looking to recruit Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow to contribute to understanding and countering opinion manipulation via traditional and social media, better known as Information Operations (IO) You will develop and apply information spread modelling to novel social media data sources, tracking opinion formation and manipulation.

In this role your core activities will include creating research collaborations, generating high quality publication outputs and developing strong links with professional, government and industry bodies. This position is expected to work very closely with the industry partner.

• Base Salary Range: $88,273 to $107,511 (Level A) / $117,420 to $138,973 pa (Level B)
• This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
• This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a one-year fixed-term basis.
