DevOps Software Engineer – RMIT

The Australian Internet Observatory is a four-year project (2024-2028) to develop National Research Infrastructure for collecting and analysing social data and digital platforms. AIO is an initiative of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making + Society (ADM+S) in collaboration with researchers and research centres, university partners and organisations across Australia and internationally. The Australian Internet Observatory received investment from the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC). The ARDC is funded by the National Collaborative Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). The facility is being developed and led by RMIT University in partnership with Queensland University of Technology, The University of Queensland, The University of Melbourne, Swinburne University of Technology and Deakin University.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:
- Experience through the whole software development cycle including requirements gathering, design, implementation and testing.
- Experience in DevOps and software engineering roles.
- Experience in CI/CD, platform integration, automation and building cloud-native solutions including Git and GitHub workflows.
- Problem-solving attitude and collaborative team spirit. Ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, including guiding and coaching other developers, take initiative and work independently while managing competing complex demands.
- Experience working with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Interest in the development of research software and public interest research infrastructure.
About the job:
- Full-time, Fixed Term position – till June 2028
- Salary Level HEW 8 + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements
- Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University
