Associate Research Fellow in Computational Statistics – NIASRA at the University of Wollongong
Closes 9 July.
The School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics wishes to appoint an Associate Research Fellow in Computational Statistics to start in October 2023 (or a mutually agreeable date). This post complements the expansion in Statistics research through the appointment of the TIBRA Foundation Chair in Mathematical Sciences. We seek candidates with a track record of high-quality research in statistical methodology, focusing on areas of Bayesian computations. The successful candidate will develop statistical methodology for contemporary and application-driven challenges in high-dimensional Bayesian statistics and may contribute to the supervision of an associated doctoral research studentship.
The candidate will join the University’s flagship research intensive institute in statistics, the National Institute for Applied Statistics Research Australia (NIASRA), which has 12 faculty members, including five internationally recognised research professors, and 16 post-doctoral researchers and students. NIASRA is at the forefront of international research in Spatial Statistics, Environmental Informatics, Computational Statistics, Biometrics and Health Analytics, supported by its in-house High Performance Computing facility. NIASRA leads the university’s Data and Decision Science Initiative, which aims to develop an organisational culture of data driven insight and decision making. NIASRA also provides a bespoke statistical consultancy service to researchers at UOW.
