About The Role
Suncorp’s AI & Data Science Centre of Excellence turns data investments into practical business value. As an Associate Data Scientist, you will develop experiments, prototypes and production solutions that improve business processes and customer outcomes. You will work with business teams, technical specialists and external partners to shape iterative solutions and deliver value through agile projects. You will also support responsible AI and data science practices through quality controls, technical advice and collaboration.

This is a full-time permanent position paying between $90,000 – $100,000 + Super.

What You’ll Do

  • Engage with business customers to understand their needs and identify valuable data science opportunities.
  • Translate business requirements into iterative solution designs that support timely delivery.
  • Evaluate data sources and analytical techniques to improve business and customer outcomes.
  • Develop complex data, models, algorithms and technical advice within an agile framework.
  • Check analytical components for quality, reasonableness and appropriate risk management.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists, business teams and external partners throughout project delivery.

What You’ll Bring

  • A relevant advanced technical bachelor degree in statistics, actuarial studies, engineering, mathematics or a related field.
  • At least two years of commercial experience in complex data science or multivariate data analysis.
    Experience delivering complex data science models and systems.
    Experience using Jenkins, DBeaver , Posit/VS Code, Bitbucket/Git, Databricks and UiPath Maestro is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of Generative AI technologies, including prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation and agents.
  • Practical knowledge of machine learning, predictive analytics, natural language processing or tree based approaches.
  • A commitment to developing your technical skills as data science methods and technologies evolve.
