Turn your data skills into a teaching career

Are you a data scientist, computer scientist, analyst, technologist or other degree-qualified professional considering a career change?

The Queensland Department of Education’s Career Change Internship Program provides a supported pathway for experienced professionals to transition into a teaching career in Queensland state schools.

The two-year program combines postgraduate teaching studies with a $20,000 scholarship in the first year and a one-year paid teaching internship in the second year. During the internship, participants receive mentoring and support while gaining hands-on classroom experience, with a pathway to permanent employment on completion.

Opportunities are available in high demand curriculum areas including mathematics, science, digital technologies and engineering.

Applications for the 2027 intake close 4 October 2026.
