Assistant Research Fellow in Statistics – University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand

Applications are invited for a 12 month fixed-term position as Associate Research Fellow in Statistics at the University of Otago. The successful applicant will contribute to the project “Inference for statistical linear inverse problems: theory and practice”, funded by a prestigious Royal Society of New Zealand Marsden grant.

This project is a collaborative effort between researchers at the University of Otago, University of Auckland, and University of Melbourne. You will work primarily under the supervision of Professor Martin Hazelton (Principal Investigator), developing an R package to facilitate application of MCMC methods of inference for linear inverse problems. There will be a particular emphasis on applications in traffic engineering, ecology, and biosecurity.

The position is based in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. All applicants must have a right to live and work in New Zealand (e.g. be a New Zealand or Australian citizen, or a New Zealand permanent resident).
