Grant Funder Researcher (B) (x2) – Australian Institute of Machine Learning

Closes 14 May.

The Australian Institute of Machine Learning at The University of Adelaide has two grant-funded postdoctoral vacancies:

  • Grant Funded Researcher (B) – VideoQA on Sitcoms: This University of Adelaide and Monash University project will build a reasoning system for videos (television sitcoms) based on neural module networks (NMNs). This work aims to enhance video question answering (VideoQA) by handling complex questions requiring multi-hop reasoning, and handling the complexity of social and cultural contexts. The project will also design ‘social robots’ which can behave intelligently in socially and culturally complex environments
  • Grant Funded Researcher (B) – Improving Out-of-Distribution Generalisation
This University of Adelaide and Australian National University project aims to develop the next generation of ML to be robust, and capable of generalising beyond the ML training to instances that are out-of-distribution (OOD), while avoiding the simplicity bias. This improved generalising will be especially useful for the increasingly complex problems in images, videos and text.
