Research Fellow in Biological Data Science – University of Melbourne
Closes 15 May.
The University of Melbourne is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Mathematical Analysis of Cellular Systems (MACSYS) and Melbourne Integrative Genomics (MIG). You will work under the supervision of Dr Heejung Shim, whose group focuses on developing innovative computational methods for biological data. In this interdisciplinary role, you will contribute to cutting-edge research at the interface of mathematics, statistics, bioinformatics, and biology. Your work will involve developing and applying statistical, bioinformatics, and machine learning methods to analyse complex, large-scale biological datasets.
- Role type: Full-time; Fixed-term for 2 years

- School: Mathematics and Statistics
- Salary: Level A – $83,468 – $113,262 p.a. plus 17% super (PhD entry level $105,518 p.a.)
MACSYS is the largest dedicated research initiative in mathematical biology, bringing together mathematical, computational, and biological scientists to make biology predictive; establish mathematical whole cell models (WCMs) for in silico biology as a powerful complement to traditional in vivo and in vitro approaches; tackle fundamental biological problems; and establish a world-leading research and biotechnology translation environment. MIG is an interdisciplinary research centre to strengthen the involvement of statisticians, mathematicians, and bioinformaticians in advances in genomics and computational biology.
