The purpose of this role is to conduct statistical analyses of health and health-related data and provide policy-relevant statistical results for monitoring population health status and informing evidence-based health policies and programs. This role focuses on chronic disease and modifiable risk factors.
Independently or under broad direction, conduct complex statistical analyses and translate findings into information that the Department, public health practitioners, policy makers, other clinicians and the public can understand and use.
Provide expert, specialist advice on the appropriate and accurate use of health data, including data extraction and manipulation data, data interrogation, statistical analysis and graphic/tabular display of statistical results.
Apply expert statistical knowledge to develop practical operational procedures for complex analytical workflows to support the unit’s statistical functions and for quality assurance purposes.
