Research Data Specialist (ARDC)
Job Closing: 16th August 2026
Location: Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Perth, Brisbane or Adelaide
The Research Data Specialist provides subject matter expertise to support programs of work for and across the ARDC’s Strategic Pillars, focusing on research data-specific components including metadata, data discovery, and data used in training and evaluating large language models (LLMs).
The role supports these areas to enhance research infrastructure reproducibility, sustainability and FAIRness, and to enable national-scale AI-ready research platforms. This is achieved by guiding effective utilisation of the full cloud technology stack, including cloud-native architectures, containerisation, orchestration, multi- and hybrid-cloud design, migration, and operating practices.
This position works across a range of activities and initiatives spanning both the National Information Infrastructure (NII) and Nectar Research Cloud, providing informed advice and guidance on research data practices, standards and technologies relevant to each. This includes ensuring alignment with emerging practice in metadata standards, data discovery mechanisms, and the responsible and effective use of research data in AI and LLM contexts.
